Idea still being shaped
Motion Rosette: A 3-D Motion Lab
How can a shape contain instructions?
The physical POC remains staged: no build stage is released. Each possible stage records a prediction, observation, measurement, change, and a decision to proceed, repeat, or stop before the next stage is considered.
Concept illustration
One possible learning path, held as a hypothesis.

Learning before assembly
Why build understanding in stages?
Each mechanical stage earns the next. A focused test makes one uncertainty visible, and its evidence decides whether the path may proceed, needs another attempt, or should stop.
- 01 · Setup
Fit and Motion Calibration
Test fit language, measurement, safe hand motion, and consistent records.
- 02 · Iteration 1
Cam Garden
Isolate axle fit, alignment, friction, hand cranking, and cam/follower motion without gear mesh.
- 03 · Iteration 2
Rolling Gear Lab
Isolate the fixed ring, rolling gear, captive carrier, and selected wand position.
- 04 · Iteration 3
Motion Rosette
The primary POC: make a gear-generated path stand up and perform in the air.
- 05 · Iteration 4
Draw Module
Separately test force, alignment, paper, pen, cleanup, and safety.
- 06 · Iteration 5
Draw and Dance
An advanced continuation that combines only validated subsystems.
Keep the trail inspectable
The living evidence log
A good-looking result is not enough. Keep the expectation, observation, measurement, and change together so another person can understand what the test supports.
- Prediction
- What do you expect to happen, and why?
- Observed result
- What did you notice without adding an explanation?
- Measured result
- What did you measure, with which tool and units?
- Change made
- What single change did you make before the next test?
PROCEED · REPEAT · STOP
Possible participant artifact
What might leave the table
A staged motion test and living evidence log; later, a hand-cranked kinetic sculpture if a stage is released and validated.
Activity-author release gate
NOT READY TO BUILD
The activity author must release a named stage with its files, tools, materials, checkpoints, safety notes, and success gates before anyone treats it as buildable. A successful-looking image or print is not validation.
Bounded assistance
Where AI might help
Help explain geometry, compare observations, organize the evidence log, or assist later parametric design under human review.
What AI cannot decide
Certify fit, motion, material safety, machine safety, or release a stage for learners.
Trust boundaries
- Every physical stage remains NOT READY TO BUILD until an activity author releases named files, tools, materials, checkpoints, safety notes, and success gates.
Still a working idea
What is still open
- First released calibration pack.
- Mechanism validation.
- Supervision and accessibility requirements.
- Whether or when the Draw Module enters scope.
