Remember it this wayIf people must type the same fact twice, look for duplicate entry.
In plain language
Duplicate entry means typing, copying, or recording the same information again because two or more tools, forms, or teams each need their own version.
Why it matters
Duplicate entry creates extra work and increases the chance that records will disagree.
It may also signal that different teams rely on different sources of truth.
Example
A customer's address is entered into a website form, copied into the CRM, and then copied again into an invoice template.
Common misconception
Duplicate entry is not the same as an intentional backup or a synchronized copy. The friction appears when people must enter or maintain the same information separately.
