Remember it this wayPolished output can still contain unfinished thinking.

In plain language

The document, slide deck, summary, email, or code may look finished at first glance. In practice, it is generic, unclear, inaccurate, disconnected from the real need, or missing the judgment that would make it useful, so the next person inherits the unfinished thinking.

Why it matters

Workslop can hide rework behind apparent productivity. It shifts time and cognitive effort to colleagues, slows decisions, and can weaken trust in both the sender and the organization's use of AI.

Example

A manager sends a polished twenty-slide AI-generated strategy deck filled with generic recommendations and unsupported metrics. The team must reconstruct the actual problem, verify the numbers, and rewrite the plan before it can guide a decision.

Common misconception

Workslop is not every piece of AI-assisted work or every imperfect first draft. The defining pattern is polished-looking output that does not meaningfully advance the task and transfers the remaining work to someone else.
